Parent Involvement

NLCP is a modified co-op preschool with parent participation required.  The minimum commitment includes the following:

1. For 3 year old, 4 year old and Jr. Kindergarten classes, parents help in the classroom a set number of days per quarter (fall, winter, spring) including providing snack and drinks for the children in class for those days. Parents must work the same number of days your child attends class in one week each quarter. (Three days per quarter for three year old classes, etc) For 2 year old classes, parents are required to attend with their child each day the class meets.

You may choose to send an adult besides a parent if the parent is unavailable. This person must have passed a Washington State Patrol background check at least one week prior to serving in the classroom.

2. Be responsible for a "Parent Job" for the class (example: coordinating field trip sign-ups or taking pictures). Sign up at "Meet the Teacher" in September.

3. Anyone working in the classroom must have a completed and approved Washington State Patrol background check prior to helping in the class.

In addition, we strongly encourage participation in at least one Saturday morning work party for a couple of hours. Tuition credit for this time will be received at the rate of $10 an hour.

During the school year, parents also have the opportunity to participate in class field trips and parties, and special events planned throughout the year such as Dad’s Night and the Mother’s Tea.
